Gorgeous textures! Reminds me of some of the effects you can get with Wet Felting.

Ironically, WP just told me comments are closed on this item, this is without my say-so. So I’ll have another go right now … Thank you, this scrap of the painting was done with acrylics and bandaging and tissue paper inserts. I’ve done a bit of felting but not sure whether it was wet or dry. Don’t know enough about it.

Yes, I’ve noticed WP seems to have a mind of its own at times…..I’ve also noticed odd inconsistencies such as not seeing certain posts in the Reader feed when logged in from my phone, but then being able to see them if i log in using my laptop ( and sometimes vice versa!). It’s really annoying and weird!
Anyway, I do love a bit of mixed media and experimentation with texture. The bandaging makes such a gorgeous texture.
Re: felting, if it was done with a sharp little needle, that’d be dry felting ( fun, unless you accidentally stab your finger with the needle!). The wet felting is messier; it requires a fair bit of space/ a large flat surface to work on, and lots of soapy water, and is more for making a lovely textured fabrics, scarves, and more large scale thingies, I suppose. I love- and miss- doing both!

So, re the felting. What I’ve done was a wet felting workshop, about twenty years ago. Still have the sample applied to a canvas backing and half embroidered with my favourite silks. Always meant to expand on that but time rolls on and I don’t do much embroidery now. Usually only to repair clothes. But since I’m reminded of it can always use to illustrate.

Ooh, that sounds really lovely. Especially with silks. Wet felting creations absolutely lend themselves to embroidery- it’s what I wanted to begin doing before I had to pack everything up and bung it into storage. Ho hum…anyway, would love to see the piece you speak of! And embroidered illustrations sound brilliant to me.
