Just posted Part 16 on the Brick Stories page. I realized this morning I’m seriously behind and not even sure whether I’ve even posted it already, though could not find it.

The site as it stands. Work has begun on the canteen. Naturally there are some quibbles and quarrels.
Trish wants her cabin up asap.
Boz asks her where with his most irritating logic.
Tim wants to get on with it already.
Dan wants to go salvaging.
Drew stalks around looking inscrutable.
Nin Wizard is agitated and hops here and there with his teacup.
Nin’s younger brother and his crew have almost finished the Stone Dragon Teahouse with just the five of them … a fact Jed points out at least three times a day.
On the weekend last I had my grandkids, aged 7 and 4, over for a few hours. While we played hide and seek, the box was inadvertantly discovered in Oma’s not-so-secret Christmas present hiding place.
And of course we opened it and set to with great gusto. And I’m happy we did, because though the set is recommended for age 6+ the 7 year old found it difficult.
He soon narrowed his focus to the wheelchair guy in Bag 1 and his buggy, while the four year old helped the 76+ yr old Oma by finding shapes amongst the contents of Bag Three.
Which was a lucky guess for it held a girl minifig, helmet, airpack, a bed/couch, microwave, mug, coffee machine and a bank of windows. In other words, a collection of playable elements.
The rest of the set was completed after the kids had gone home. and I was tickled pink to find another iteration of the frog element …
I laughed discovering how the slippery slidy minifigs are made to stay on their beds … “Oooh, is that what those bricks are for?”
The hinge joint pieces I first stumbled over in a mystery pack from http://www.brickresales.com and had no idea what to do with. Just in case you’re thinking … Well, duh! What else could they be? That’s right. Once you know, it’s obvious.
The number of different elements in this set was probably nothing out of the ordinary … count them if you like.
The ‘round’ hatch opening-and-closing mechanism is a joy to operate, as is the sliding up-and-down hatch. I think both these will get their real work-outs when the kids come again.
Now I’m wondering where and how to set up a moon base in my apartment. I’ll need to do some re-arranging.
Mmm.
And PS, what is the ring meant to represent?
A thing I’ve been experimenting with is turning remaindered practice paintings into little books … seeing if judicious ‘analogue’ cutting and pasting can transform random images.
There was a left to right movement in this scrap … the two pages bound by ribbon had to stay loose from one another (ie not glued) or the whole booklet would’ve buckled.
Where are we? Help! I’m sliding … Uh oh where are we? Some kind of underworld?
is that a golden gate I see in the distance?. Maybe we can get there crawling …Turn the corner, quick …
In and out of the trees, I don’t feel safe in amongst all the vegetation. What’s all that gold doing to us?

Guess we didn’t all get wings.
One of my favorite lines in The Mandalorian, which I’ve been watching one last time before I cancel my subscrition with Disney+. Cross my fingers that I can achieve that this time.
That punch line only seems paradoxical. In a scene with the maximum amount of technology being used, Din Djindarin tells his droid don’t complain to me I don’t speak binary.
Binary? A language made up of noughts and ones? On and off? Speaking it would be quite a feat. I think it’s hilarious, that idea. Always laugh when I hear it.
Originally, I signed up to rewatch the Star Wars timeline right through. That was last year sometime. Tried to cancel my subscription then, but Disney is one of those ‘sticky’ businesses. It’s hard to get loose once you signed up.
So, OK, I’ve gotten involved in a few other shows. The Bear was good. I rewatched Avatar, then tried to get into part two.
The minute one of the baddies said that they had to leave Earth because it had died, I was over it. I switched it off.
Turns out I can watch any amount of pretend fisticuffs and sword play but keep your so-called fictional future-telling off my Earth. The present day real life predatorial delays are bad enough.
A vague shot of the mythosaur .. he’s an archetype of course. I’d love to see a bit more of him if Disney+ ever does a third series.
Is a puzzle. The complex comes with an embedded network. Not all providers accept them among their customers. Nor does the embedded network accept ‘others’.
And some of the acceptable providers seem not to be in existence any longer since they were listed.
Luckily I can hot-spot my laptop to my mobile phone, but not ideal. Laptop on footstool in front with a cord to power outlet to my right. Another cord from laptop to hub on the left. Mobile/cell on the couch beside me with a cord to the hub.
No sudden moves recommended. Trippy enough to trip over.
Today I might rustle through the spare cords for one to hotspot the TV to my mobile. Another kind of trippy!
Make-believe curtains are the go for the moment, until I decide curtains or blinds.
The carpenters clamps, rope and bed sheets curtains to the side installed by my son, and the highly unusual ceiling detail overhead.
There are four pristine white levels with only two of them faced with painted-over timber for curtain rails and/or blinds to be fixed overhead …
To be fixed overhead on two levels, neither of them ‘regular’ lengths. Which will make it hard to buy off-the-shelf products.
This morning I was distracted while researching indoor necessities by a pageful of Temu growlights, followed by discovering specialist products are not needed to help my plants survive.
It’s too long to wait for plants until the depth of winter to get a decent day of sunlight. So that’s another ongoing search for solutions. Love a good problem to get my teeth into!
